NT4 Server Recovery

Option 1 &endash; Promote BDC to PDC.

1. Obtain a BDC from one of Magex remote site and promote it as PDC. At recovery site.

2. This is the quickest and most reliable way to obtain all NT accounts.

Option 2 &endash; Build new PDC

1. Build NT Server as PDC

2. Build Arcserve Backup server.

3. Merge "PDC_FS01\c$” from Tape onto Arcserve Backup Server

4. Restore "PDC_FS01\c$” and tick the "Registry” option from Arcserve Options

5. Exclude following files from restore:

C:\BOOT.INI

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\HAL.DLL

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\KERNEL32.DLL

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\NTDLL.DLL

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\NTOSKRNL.EXE

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\WIN32K.SYS

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\WINSRV.SYS

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\TCPIP.SYS

6. Start the Restore process.

7. Reboot the server, once restore is completed.

8. Now login to the PDC with existing domain account.
